Shocking nobody in particular, Atlantan Josh Murray of “The Bachelorette” fame has broken off his engagement with Amanda Stanton, a fellow “Bachelor” vet he met during this past summer’s “Bachelor in Paradise” spinoff show.
Stanton broke the news to People magazine this week.
“Josh and I did break up,” Stanton, 26, told the magazine at The Bachelor Charity Premiere Party at Sycamore Tavern in Los Angeles on Monday.
Murray was who Atlanta attorney Andi Dorfman picked in 2014 for that year’s ‘Bachelorette.” They seemed like the perfect couple on the show but after the cameras were shut off, their relationship went sour. Dorfman and Murray broke it off by early 2015. Dorfman wrote a tell-all book called “It’s Not Okay” last year painting Murray a jealous, insecure, angry, petty man. (Dorfman now lives in New York.)
Murray, the brother of former UGA quarterback Aaron, has not addressed the specifics in her book, merely calling her allegations “fiction.” The book became a subject of gossip during “Bachelor in Paradise” over the summer but didn’t stop Stanton from committing to him. They soon began living together and were engaged in September.
Again, when the couple dealt with each other without the sun, the beach and the drinks, the relationship didn’t gel. Stanton was a little vague but it’s possible she and Andi may have faced some of the same issues with Murray. (Murray also tried to learn about himself in an E! reality show last year called “Famously Single” but didn’t find love there.)
“There was a lot of different reasons [we called off our engagement],” Stanton told People. “At the end of the day, we were just two very different people. I think there are some things when you love someone you can work on and try to fix things, and then there are some things you just can’t fix. I think it got to that point where we just knew it wasn’t going to work.”
The last photo she posted on Instagram with him was at the L.A. Jingle Ball a month ago:
His last two photos have been of him and his beloved dog Sabel, who passed away December 23:
Heading into 2017 without my best friend, life just isn't the same. I do want to thank everyone from the bottom of my heart for all your prayers, love and words of encouragement. I have read every single comment, tweet, email and direct message and am so grateful for the support. You all have helped me get through this tough time and I appreciate it more than you know. I hope everyone has an incredible New Year filled with health, love and happiness. #SabelStrong

Murray also threw out a few nuggets of wisdom last month on Twitter after that photo was taken which may or may not have to do with his failed engagement with Stanton:
Nick Viall, the current “Bachelor” who was interested in both Dorfman and Stanton but lost them both to Murray, must be feeling good. Here is what Dorfman posted when she had to sit next to him on “Jimmy Kimmel Live.”
