Fox Sports Radio host and natural provocateur Clay Travis on CNN today decided to be facetious by using the word “boobs” multiple times, causing former Atlantan and afternoon host Brooke Baldwin to cut him off.
Travis said he believes in the “First Amendment and boobs.”
After he said it the first time, Baldwin was confused. “I just want to make sure I’m hearing you correctly,” she said. “B-O-O-Z-E or B-O-O-B-S? Because as a woman –” Travis cut her off. “I said boobs,” he clarified.
“Why would you say that live on national television, and with a female host?” Baldwin asked, astonished. “Why would you even go there?”
He replied: “That’s what I do: Because I like boobs and the First Amendment, which is exactly what I said.”
Baldwin later on Twitter confirmed that she didn’t think the use of that word was appropriate:
I just went on CNN to discuss the collapse of MSESPN and said I didn’t believe Jemele Hill or Curt Schilling should be fired because I believe completely in only two things that have never let me down — the first amendment and boobs.
And when I said that CNN got totally and completely triggered. Seriously, this thing plays out like an SNL skit. The other guy sputters and goes straight into offended pearl clutching mode.
He is now creating “I love the first amendment and boobs” T-shirts and donating all the proceeds to breast cancer awareness.
Some press called what he said sexist.
Travis was on to discuss ESPN’s Jemele Hill, who called the president and his supporters “white supremacists” on Twitter. Sarah Huckabee Sanders, the White House press secretary, called the tweet a “fireable offense.”
He has been sharply critical of ESPN for supporting Hill.
