Think of it as the finale to the Finale.
“Scandal” ends its often-spectacular, always-scheme-filled seven year run on ABC on Thursday at 10 p.m. But when the finale episode concludes, it won’t be the last we’ll see of Olivia, Fitz, Jake et al. The entire cast, along with series uber creator Shonda Rhimes, will be on “Jimmy Kimmel Live” at 11:35 p.m. for what’s being described as an “epic after-show.”
How epic? Well, even Chaka Kahn will be there for a “special music performance” (Hmm, what could it be? “The Ballad of B613,” maybe?)
Meanwhile, Thursday’s edition of “Good Morning America” will offer an exclusive sneak peek of the final episode (Here in Atlanta, all three programs air on WSB-TV).
Kimmel has been especially outspoken on current affairs of late so he should be able to hold his own with “Scandal’s” lineup of fictional politicos and DC fixers. Here’s who’s scheduled to join him on the “Live” couch(es): Kerry Washington, Guillermo Diaz, Darby Stanchfield, Katie Lowes, Tony Goldwyn, Jeff Perry, Joshua Malina, Bellamy Young, Scott Foley, Joe Morton, Cornelius Smith Jr. and George Newbern.
As TV blogmeister extraordinaire Rodney Ho recently wrote, ABC has kept all info about the finale firmly under wraps. But now it’s cracked the door open a bit:
“With the existence of B613 exposed to the world,” ABC said in the same release where it announced the Kimmel after-show, “the Gladiators make the ultimate sacrifice in order to take down Cyrus and Jake – but how far will they go to get justice?”
Far enough to still be talking about it on Kimmel, apparently!
